Coaches Corner

Co-Head Coaches

Larissa Herold, Co-Head Coach

Coach LarissaLarissa Herold has been coaching USS Club swimming for 12 years, and has been coaching the Seacoast Swim Club for five years. Larissa grew up in Madbury, NH and went to The University of California at Berkeley on a full swimming scholarship 1992-1997. She finaled at Olympic Trials in the 200 meter backstroke in 1992 and was in the Finals in the Backstroke and IM's at Division 1 NCAA's all four years in college. Larissa resides in Cumberland, Maine with her her two sons, Lars, age 8 and Leif, age 6. Larissa is also the Head coach of the Cumberland Masters swim team and is a Triathlete coach with Personal Best Multisport. She is a triathlete herself and won various Maine triathlons in 2008, including Bath Y Tri Sprint, Kennebec Sprint and Lobsterman Olympic Distance.

AJ Rog, Co-Head Coach

aj rog AJ Rog began swimming when he was 8 years old for Canoe City Swim Club in Old Town, Maine. He was a member of 4 straight High School State Championship teams at Old Town High School from 1986-1989. He went on to swim for 4 years at the University of Maine in Orono, where he specialized in backstroke and IM. He was named Captain his senior year. The year after graduating from University of Maine, he stayed on for one year as an assistant coach. He was also lucky enough to find his future wife, Alexis, while at University of Maine. Before leaving Maine for Las Vegas, AJ coached the Falmouth High Swim Team for one year. Alexis and AJ now live in Cumberland Center and have 2 terrific children, Connor and Courtney who are now swimmers on Seacoast.

Assistant & Student Coaches

Samantha Hill, Asst. Coach

samanthaSamantha Hill is a recent college graduate from Saint Joseph's College of Maine majoring in Elementary Education. Swimming has always been a focal point in her life. Samantha began swimming on a team in the third grade and continued throughout elementary, middle then was prevalent in starting a team at her private high school in MA, where she swam for 3 years. Saint Joseph's College had a club which became a Division III team while Samantha was a student, and she swam for 1 1/2 years there. She is a certified lifeguard and have life guarded for all 4 years of college during the summer. Samantha really enjoys coaching because she feel that she uses her own personal experiences to help train others to become more skilled swimmers.

John Madeira, Student Coach

John Madeira is a senior this year at Greely High School.  He is an avid Greely High School and Seacoast swimmer who has been with the club for ten years.  John plans to continue his swimming career at the collegiate level. He enjoys sailing and skiing in his free time.
